Buddhism and a Cup of Tea
Monday, 21st November 2016As you might have gotten to know from our last month’s article titled “Members’ Talks at the Centre” our centre has started a new trend by inviting one of its members to give a talk a month. It’s a very good experience for both the speakers and the attendees. It provides a new perspective on interesting topics and creates an exciting learning atmosphere and space for discussion.
This month’s talk has happened on Saturday the 17th of November. It was given by Bruce who is by profession a teacher, therefore you can imagine that the quality of the whole presentation simply incredible. As his topic was “Buddhism and a Cup of Tea”, he brought all the necessary props and certified knowledge to demonstrate the ways of the Japanese tea ceremony. He talked about how it represents the Buddhist values of Harmony, Respect, Purity and Tranquillity and in all provided us with so much interesting information that all members that attended felt like they were transported into Japan for couple of hours.
Below you can find Bruce’s presentation as well as his notes, together with the talk itself.
